Top 6 Best Beaches in Mexico

Blog

Mexico is famous for its beaches and there are plenty to choose from but the best beaches offer more than just soft sand and warm water.  Mexico beach rentals are famous for their access to more than just sea and sand and these beaches are some of the top to consider for your next Central American vacation.

Playa de Akumal

One of the best things about clear, warm seas is that you can see a lot more while you are in them and this makes some of the beaches in Mexico perfect for snorkeling.  Playa de Akumal is listed as one of the best as there is a reef that stretches from 20 feet right out to around 300 feet offshore so is suitable for all experience levels.  There are amazing tropical fish and turtles to see as well as the waters being safe enough for young swimmers.

Puerto Vallarta Beach

Puerto Vallarta Beach is a Pacific side resort that is known as one of the most pleasant you can visit and is close to a string of other beaches.  The Zona Romantica is the old town with quaint shops and old architecture while the beach itself is known for snorkeling as well as for whale watching and a base for deep sea fishing.

Playa La Ropa

If water sports are your thing, then Playa La Ropa is one of the best places to visit.  The ‘Beach of Clothing’ got its name when a wrecked Spanish galleon deposited fabrics all over the beach but today, it is filled with people who love parasailing, jet skiing and much more.  There are also some great restaurants along the beach.  Watch the signs, however as one end of the beach is known for crocodiles so not the ideal place to swim!

Cancun Beach

Cancun Beach is often likened to a coastal Las Vegas and is one of the most well-known Mexican resorts.  It has loads of restaurants, shops and resorts as well as casinos and other places to keep yourself occupied when away from the beach.  The coast itself has gorgeous sands and turquoise waters as it is on the Gulf of Mexico and is ideal for whale watching, snorkeling and chilling on the sand.

Tulum

Tulum is the place to go to combine history with beach time as the ruins of the Mayan city of Tulum are right beside the beach.  It is around two hours south of Cancun so great for a multicenter location and the beach itself is a rival to any in the country with white sands and palm trees to shelter beneath.

Playa del Amor

‘Lovers Beach’ sits between the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific and is only accessible by boat from Cabo San Lucas.  The two towering rock formations on either side of the beach make for a stunning back drop and the ocean views are amazing.  Stick to the Cortez side for swimming and snorkeling as the Pacific side can get a bit rough from the tides.
