The holiday season is officially upon us, and with it comes the most jam-social calendar of the year. If you’re celebrating Christmas in Liverpool, you’ll probably already be scrambling to get tickets for the best events before they sell out.
If you want to truly do the festive season in style, you’re probably not too thrilled about the idea of living through another mundane office Christmas party – an event which a full 90% of employees admit they’d rather skip. Luckily, this city has you covered. If you want your Christmas season to be truly memorable, you’ll want to follow our guide on how to do Christmas in The Pool the alternative way.
Party Like Gatsby
Christmastime can be a stressful period, so there’s no better way than to blow off some steam than at a fabulously over-the-top Great Gatsby party. Don your best flapper dress or tuxedo and brace yourself for literal fountains of champagne in the Art Deco splendour of the Grade II listed Cunard House, one of the most iconic buildings in the city. This isn’t your average, run-of-the-mill Gatsby tribute; there’s a secret prohibition bar hiding somewhere in the venue, and the party stops when the last person drops.
A Love Actually Concert
When it comes to ranking our favourite Christmas films of all time, the ones that truly leave an impact, the 2003 Richard Curtis film Love Actually always ends up pretty high on the list. If just booting up the film on Netflix isn’t good enough for you, then you can make a truly opulent night of it by watching the film with a live orchestra at the Liverpool Philharmonic. One of the UK’s most revered orchestras will be performing the entire score of the film throughout the festive period.
A Festive Bingo Party
It’s no secret that scousers love a game of bingo. If you want to combine a raucous Christmas party with the chance to win a pretty penny, then book yourself a spot at one of the first ever Buzz Bingo Christmas parties. You’ll be able to play some festive games of bingo with your mates, treat yourself to some complimentary food platters, and help yourself to all the drinks you could ever want. Just make sure to get some practice online first if you fancy a shot at winning.
Do the Santa Dash
If you fancy working up a sweat to preempt the inevitable calorie overdose this Christmas, then look no further than the Liverpool Santa Dash. This historic run is a whopping 5km in length and goes through the entire city. It regularly competes with the Santa Dash in Las Vegas, Nevada, to grab the Guinness World Record for the largest Santa run in history. For now, Liverpool holds the title, but what happens next year is anyone’s guess. Once you’ve completed it, grab a festive pint at the historic Thomas Rigby’s Pub, located right by the finish line.
Liverpool is a city that knows how to party, so it’s no surprise that it does Christmas better than anywhere else. We can’t wait!
