“How I Spent My Cancun Summer Vacation”, every year it’s the same, we go back to school and have to write an essay about what we did in the summer. Yawn. Usually I don’t have much to say but this year I am totally pumped to write because honestly, it was EPIC! Best. Vacation. Ever.
Traveling with my mom and dad and bratty brother was not as bad as I thought it would be. I mean really, what teenage girl wants to hang out with old folks and little kids? Luckily the parentals chose an AWESOME place to stay, Finest Playa Mujeres resort had something to keep all of us happy! Walking in to the lobby I felt like a celeb, totally sick digs! This was the most beautiful hotel I’ve ever seen in my life, from that first moment I knew I was in paradise.
We’ve traveled together as a family before and it was NOT always a good time. We all have mega different tastes and combining that with being stuck together in a tiny hotel room, well, let’s just say there were tears before bedtime. This trip was different! The family suite at Finest Playa Mujeres was a HUGE family vacation saver, we had so much space to do our own thing! Bratty brother annoying me? I could just step outside to the private pool or close the door to the bedroom and poof, bratty brother out of my hair!
So we’re in a fancy resort with a big suite and a private pool, Cancun summer vacation looks GOOD on me! Wanna know the best part? Freedom and flow! With so many different pools, places to hang and things to do, we were able to find things to do that kept us ALL happy and we even found out that we make a pretty sweet beach volleyball team as a family! When I wanted to just chill under a palm tree by the pool, mom and dad were in a dance class and brother was at the kids club and it was PERFECTION.
Dad gave us a surprise one day and it was HUGE. He woke us up ridiculously early (at first I was not impressed) and announced we were going to swim with whale sharks! HOLY COW, the biggest fish in the sea! I quickly forgot my annoyance at being awoken early and we set off for the most unique adventure of my life (in my sixteen years so far). We were super lucky, you can only swim with whale sharks in Cancun for a couple of months of the year and our Cancun summer vacation was at the peak of the season! We saw hundreds of these giganto beauties (the guide called them “dominoes” because of their spots). I will NEVER forget this experience, I think I now want to study marine biology! Just… WOW.
So, how did I spend my summer vacation? Happily! Traveling with family (I even found moments where I liked bratty brother, go figure!) at Finest Playa Mujeres was perfection, great suite, fun activities, I had the time of my life!
